Summer News Intern

Portland Radio Group, in association with the Maine Association of Broadcasters, is seeking a paid summer intern for News Radio 98.5FM and AM560 WGAN, Southern Maine’s heralded legacy voice for news and talk.

Interested candidates should be available to work 15 hours per week for 12 weeks (or a similar schedule leading to a total of 180 hours) in order for compensation to be earned. This position is designed for an individual attending college who is eligible to receive school credit and has an interest in audio broadcasting and journalism. The internship will run approximately June through August, 2024 with specific dates to be arranged by the host station.

The intern will primarily assist the WGAN radio news department with the possibility of working with other departments including audio production, programming, and business. Hours will mainly be weekdays, with the potential for some evening and weekend work. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are important as you will be driving to locations in southern Maine.

Familiarity with audio editing software such as ProTools and Audacity, as well as strong written and oral communication skills, will be helpful. Photoshop skills are also a plus. Send your resume by March 30, 2024, to: dmartignetti@portlandradiogroup.com
